Three winning UK poker players in Vegas
UK poker player, Richard Ashby, took down the 408-strong field to win the $140,467 1st prize and his first World Series of Poker bracelet, which also made it victory number three for UK poker players at this year’s event. Ashby’s triumph followed in the footsteps of James Dempsey’s victory in the $1,500 Pot-Limit Hold'em event #9 and Praz Bansi win in the $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em event #5. This trio of WSOP wins for UK poker players equals last year’s record-breaking tally with another 26 events yet to start plus another five to be decided, all with UK poker players involved. Ashby, 38, has previously cashed at the World Series of Poker eight times but this is his biggest single prize to date and his first bracelet to accompany his cash. Ashby went into the final of this year’s $1,500 seven-card stud event #21 final table in third place but used successful betting and good use of his cards to fight his way past Jon ‘PearlJammer’ Turner, Sorel Mizzi and US-based female poker player, Christine Pietsch to win the event. 17th June 2010 Back to Poker News Article Last Updated: 06/12/2010 14:19:00 |
