Side Betting at the WSOP
King of the side betting at the WSOP is Phil Ivey. Ivey has already won two events at this year’s World Series of Poker claiming over $300,000 in event prizes, but this figure pales into insignificance when compared to the additional $3 million dollars that Ivey allegedly won in side bets with various other poker pros after taking the $2,500 No Limit Deuce-to-Seven event. One of the most well known side bets at the WSOP is the bracelet bet. Daniel Negreanu has a well publicised bracelet bet with Phil Ivey where every time one of them wins a WSOP bracelet the other has to pay them $200,000 leaving Negreanu $400,000 down already this year. It’s not just WSOP bracelets that draw side bets out of poker pros, UltimateBet pro Annie Duke won a $500 bet against Steve Zolotow, who had bet that Annie's marriage wasn't going to last longer than 5 years! 25th June 2009 Back to Poker News Article Last Updated: 21/05/2010 12:28:14 |
