Shane Warne Misses the Ashes for the World Series of Poker

Instead of taking his seat alongside the likes of Ian Botham, David Gower and Nasser Husain in the Sky Sports commentary box Shane Warne misses the Ashes for the World Series of Poker Main Event.  The blonde haired Australian spin-bowling legend was in Las Vegas building his chip stack in the No Limit Texas Hold ‘Em Main Event.  There were 6,494 players, the third largest ever for the WSOP, who paid the $10,000 buy-in for the first round.  As this will give the winner a massive $8.5 million it is unlikely that Warne will throwing his chips away in a hurry to get back to the UK.

During day three of the World Series of Poker the Pacific Poker pro Warne has had a less than memorable time.  First he flopped a flush only to see it beaten by a full house on the river then later he played his pocket eights against pocket aces!  But the battling Aussie has made it through his tough ordeals and as the field is reduced to 810, he’s still in there with a chance.

The World Series of Poker Main Event #57 current top ten at the end of last night’s play are; Bertrand Grospellier, Ludovic Lacay, Christian Heich, Adam Bilzerian, Jordan Morgan, Saar Wilf, Gabe Walls, James Akenhead, Brennan Hanson and Tony Cavezza.

In other World Series of Poker news, UK Poker players are now in 4th place overall behind the USA, Canada and Russia in this year's international standings.
