Popularity of poker grows in Vegas

Nobody can deny that the popularity of online poker has gone through the roof over the last few years but unlike online poker, live poker games and profits at poker rooms around the world have been in decline with some live poker venues facing closure.  However the popularity of poker grows in Vegas by the day.

Throughout the world many live poker rooms are facing financial hardship like UK poker room ‘From Dusk Til Dawn’ in Nottingham which is in severe financial difficulty despite hosting this year’s English Poker Open, however this trend is not being followed in Vegas.  According to Nevada state figures the 106 licensed poker rooms in Nevada generated $155.7 million in revenues during 2008.  This is $20 million more that Nevada’s sports book industry and almost twice the $80 million revenue generated by the state's 96 race books.  These figures display the rewards that Nevada’s poker rooms and casinos have received for investing in the many poker promotions which can be found at nearly every casino and poker room in the state.
