Ladbrokes PokerAfter winning a seat at the Main Event of The World Series of Poker while playing at Ladbrokes Poker, the skilful Scotsman was faced with mixed fortunes as he was made redundant from his job.  But even in the face of such adversity this determined poker player lost his job one week but won big the next.

Richard Sinclair of West Lothian won a fantastic WSOP package while playing the tables at Ladbrokes Poker earlier this year.  But as the canny Scotsman prepared himself to sit alongside the world’s greatest poker players he was hit with some very bad news.  Sinclair’s employer of 19 years, Livingston based firm Wynan Gordon were forced to lay-off one fifth of their workforce which included himself, just two days before he headed off on his dream trip to Vegas.

As Richard had won his seat playing online poker at Ladbrokes Poker he was automatically given a place in Team Ladbrokes squad, who paid for the $10,000 buy-in to the Main Event at World Series of Poker and also his accommodation and travel expenses.  Team Ladbrokes was made up of 15 players including Sinclair and was captained by six time world snooker champion, pool shark and poker veteran Steve "Interesting" Davis.

Out of the 6000+ entrants to this year’s World Series of Poker Main Event, online qualifier Sinclair managed to battle his way through the rounds showing the pros how to play and finally finished well in the money in 465th place.  This display earned him $25,000 which he says he’s going to use half of “as a bankroll and give becoming a professional poker player a shot."  Team Ladbrokes captain, Stave Davies said “The fact that Richard made it through this tough field certainly shows that he has promise."
