Play Party Poker Anywhere, Even on a Mac

Party Poker has made itself even more accessible by introducing an instant play version of their poker software which needs no download and can be played directly from your browser.  This means that you can play Party Poker anywhere, even on a Mac unlike other poker sites with downloadable software which is usually for Windows only.

After downloading Party Pokers regular client and also accessing their site using the instant play software we have compared the differences and found the main difference to be the graphics.  Don’t get me wrong, the graphics on Party Pokers instant play version are still more than good enough to play online poker for hours with and all of the usual features are included.  The instant play version even appears to run faster on our run-of-the-mill 3Ghz laptop.

When you first select the instant play version of Party Pokers software you are asked to approve a signed applet before the browser will start.  If you have an active pop-up blocker you will also be asked to allow pop-ups from Party Poker as it uses them for the instant play software.  After allowing the pop-ups you will be greeted with the familiar looking Party Poker lobby with almost all of the usual options available including free poker tournaments and specials.  The only restrictions with this cut-down version are; no table filters in the lobby, no private tables, no dealer options and no table resizing or tiling.

The system requirements for Party Pokers instant play version are 800 x 600 screen resolution with 256 colours, 128MB of RAM and a soundcard for the audio.  The operating systems supported to play Party Pokers instant play version on include; Windows 98/ME/2000/XP/Vista, Mac and Linux with Windows Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Mac Safari browsers all supported.
