Party Poker online qualifier wins the Aussie Millions

The 13th annual Crown Australian Poker Championships main event, better known as the Aussie Millions main event, had to wait 11 years before having a local champion but now finds itself with two of them back-to-back.  This year it was an Aussie national and Party Poker online qualifier who won the Aussie Millions.

Tyron Krost is the latest online poker qualifier to walk away with a major world poker title to their name after beating a particularly strong final table, which included Annette Obrestad and Peter Jetten to take on fellow Party Poker qualifier, Frederik Jensen heads-up.  Heads-up play came to an end when Krost’s K,9 held up against Jensen’s K,6 to win the 23 year old local lad $2 million AUD plus keeping the Aussie Millions title in Australia for yet another year.

The final table results for the 2010 Crown Australian Poker Championships are as follows:

1st: Tyron Krost - $2,000,000
2nd: Frederik Jensen - $1,100,000
3rd: Sorel Mizzi - $715,000
4th: Kosta Varoxis - $450,000
5th: Peter Jetten - $350,000
6th: Steve Friedlander - $250,000
7th: Annette Obrestad - $175,000
8th: Stephen Shelly - $125,000

This is another great example of an online poker player qualifying for one of the biggest live poker events in the world beating some of the best poker pros in the world to a coveted title and a big poker payday.  Possibly two of the most famous poker champions who have qualified online are Chris Moneymaker and Greg Raymer who won the World Series of Poker main event in 2003 and 2004 after qualifying online and winning WSOP prize packages while playing in satellite tournaments at PokerStars.
