Online Poker Entrepreneur Found Dead in his Swedish Home

Earlier this month a 36 year old online poker entrepreneur was found dead in his Swedish home.  Andreas Oscarsson was murdered in his Gothenburg residence but the attack doesn’t appear to have been a burglary or a robbery.  The Swedish police are suggesting that it was a targeted attack, possibly relating to the man’s past.

Oscarsson, founder of poker news site Pokerlistings.com, which covers all aspects of online poker from player and pro team news to successful betting strategies and advice, was found in his Swedish home with fatal gunshot wounds on the 3rd of August.  Local sources suggest that the online poker mogul had enemies from his past which appear to have caught up with him in a mafia-style hit reminiscent of 1930’s mobster America.  Bluff Europe Magazine have posted an article suggesting similar circumstances which reads “As of now there are no further details except that police are uncertain of the exact motive, but reports emanating from Sweden suggest ‘concrete threats’ were made towards Oscarsson, according to friends and colleagues in Stockholm and Gothenburg.”

Friends and colleagues have reported that Oscarsson had received death threats in the run up to his murder and also last year another man by the same name was murdered further supporting the theory that this attack was a deliberate hit.  A source in Sweden is quoted as saying “Police [have] been talking on the radio about it saying that it’s quite probably [something] from his past that has caught up to him in this unfortunate way.”

As of now there is no official word from the Swedish police regarding any suspects and their investigation continues.
