The main event for this year’s WSOP kicked of back in July with 13 days of poker played out by 6,494 players, all of who had dreams of winning the most prestigious event in world poker.  But as the tournament progressed some of the biggest names in poker fell by the wayside.  This year’s WSOP main event saw poker players from all walks of life stump up ten grand to take a shot at being poker world champion.  Along with the amateurs and poker pros who bought in there were also huge numbers of online poker players who had qualified through the thousands and thousands of online poker satellites which were found on practically all poker sites.

As play progressed some good fortune played into Joe Cada’s hands, taking his 13,215,000 chip stack all the way up to 194,800,000 to win the WSOP main event.  During the last few days lady luck has played into young Joe Cada’s hands with some really lucky cards.  Some examples of this luck include Cada’s pocket threes taking down Jeff Shulman’s pocket jacks, which is roughly 4:1 in favour of Shulman and then when Cada tries to push Antoine Saout off the pot while holding only deuces he runs into Saout’s pair of queens.  Saout punches the air as the cards are turned over only to see a two in the flop with two blank cards for the turn and river.

So he may have had lady luck sat by his side but Joe Cada has become the youngest ever poker world champion, in the most watched live poker event in the history of the game.  If you want the chance to become world champion keep your eyes open for the online poker satellites to next year’s WSOP which will be popping up at various poker sites such as PokerStars and Party Poker soon.
