Isabelle Mercier quits Team PokerStars Pro

PokerstarsCanadian poker pro Asabelle Mercier has quit Team PokerStars Pro after five years as an ambassador for the online poker site.  Mercier has been a member of Team PokerStars Pro since it was founded in 2004 and over the years she has had some memorable results while wearing the PokerStars colours.

A press release made by Mercier simply announced that she would be ending her five year association with PokerStars but didn’t indicate where her future plans would be.  In the five years that she has represented Team PokerStars Pro, Mercier has impressive finishes at some of the world’s biggest and richest poker tournaments and events, claiming over 40 cash finishes and racking up over $1 million in the process.

Isabelle Mercier hasn’t had the usual route into the world of poker.  She was born in Quebec, Canada and attended the University of Montreal, where she graduated in law but instead of pursuing a career in law Mercier decided to stake everything that she had on becoming a professional poker player.  Without a penny to her name Mercier flew to Paris where she got a job at the Aviation Club de France which is a prestigious casino complex on the Champs-Elysees.  Mercier quickly worked her way into a managerial role at the Aviation Club de France but this only convinced her even further to become a poker professional.

Mercier left her job at the Aviation Club de France and sold all of her worldly possessions to bankroll herself as a poker professional which proved to be the right decision as in 2004 she won the World Poker Tour Ladies Night Tournament and from there she has never looked back.

So what does the future hold for Isabelle Mercier?  I’m sure we’ll see her face again soon as a player for one of the top online poker sites pro teams or in another high-profile role soon enough.
