Danish court seized poker player’s winnings

Playing online poker professionally is something that many players do across the world.  So imagine how you’d feel if you’d played enough online poker through the year to live off only for a court to rule that you have to give it all to them.  A Danish court seized a poker player’s winnings as he had no other job than playing online poker.

In Denmark it is illegal for any Danish citizen to make their living exclusively from gambling and the online poker player had been discovered to have no other job, by Danish authorities.  The Danish Supreme Court ruled that the man had broken Danish laws that related to earning your entire living from gambling, as he had won the money over a year and had no other earnings.

This is another example of online poker players suffering at the hands governments across the world.  In it's breif history online poker has met much opposition with the Italians have restrictions only allowing them to play online poker for money against other Italians, Australia and the US have restrictions making the funding and supply of online poker games illegal to their citizens and Russia prohibits online gambling altogether leaving their citizens to either break the law or settle for a game of free poker instead and there are many other tight restrictions placed on online poker players across the globe too.
